Michael D. Mitchell, Esq.
Michael D. Mitchell has extensive experience in housing compliance, policy development, and regulatory enforcement, having worked in the field of housing law compliance for over 25 years. He currently serves as a consultant on housing compliance, mortgage lending regulations, and community development strategies with International Development and Planning, LLC, a consulting firm that specializes in assisting government agencies, nonprofits, and private clients with policy planning, regulatory analysis, and compliance oversight.
He has previously worked for the Chickasaw Nation Industries where he served as an Instructor for compliance training programs and regulatory education initiatives. Mr. Mitchell has served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Howard University School of Law since 2007 and is a frequent speaker at national and regional conferences.
For over a decade, he was the Director of National Neighbors, a program of the National Community Reinvestment Coalition (NCRC), where he also served in a leadership role overseeing mortgage lending compliance, regulatory analysis, and policy implementation. Mr. Mitchell led initiatives in housing compliance programs, oversaw mortgage lending audits, managed lender evaluation programs, conducted training on housing planning and compliance strategies, and provided technical assistance to state and municipal agencies and community organizations. Additionally, he managed compliance initiatives and advised lenders and housing providers on regulatory best practices.
