Description of course: This training will teach intake specialists, investigators, staff attorneys, and executive staff the fundamentals of housing compliance investigations and how to enforce housing laws by conducting regulatory investigations in compliance with applicable legal standards.
Subjects covered include: the history of housing regulations; an overview of housing laws and compliance frameworks, including prohibited acts, time limits, and exemptions; accessibility compliance issues; investigative methodologies; how to conduct complaint intakes; how to establish jurisdiction and process complaints; how to develop investigative plans; case preparation strategies; how to conduct interviews and request documents; and how to draft Final Investigative Reports (FIRs) a d determinations in accordance with regulatory guidelines.and the HUD Title VIII Investigator's Handbook.
